Why I Write

Hi dear ones!

Last year, when I began my blogging adventure, I remember writing a post on why I was taking the writing challenge and why I loved to write in general.  I remember trying to convey what writing meant to me; how it helps me get to thoughts buried too far beneath the surface to access otherwise.  I wrote about how it felt like a calling and something I needed to do, not just to express my heart, but to convene with God in that privileged place where indulging a passion means living a heavenly-inspired purpose…

and brings joy unspeakable.

Friends, this is our God.  The closer we live to Him, the more He can turn our desires into joy.  Not just happiness.  But joy.  Joy reaches much deeper as it warms its way into places that feel like they’ve been sleeping for years.

I don’t know if you know this but God is the very Author or our desires.  Sure, we live in a fallen world, and can often misread and abuse our desires until we’ve distorted them into things no longer resembling their original beauty.  It’s a tough plight.  When a dream corrodes to an ache, fulfillment seems impossible. But God can fix that too.  Because He loves us.

And because He is and always will be a Redeemer.

Something life-changing and life-giving happens when we start to believe that.  When we begin to see His love for us and what He has redeemed us from, we stop trying to live up to a standard we’ll never reach and we allow Him to meet us where we’re broken.  There, He loves and mends us with His grace until new life is spoken into dreams that once laid dormant.  They always feel better and shine brighter when He is the one to polish and repurpose.

Why do I bring this up on this beautiful fall day?  Because I want to encourage you today to dust off some of your own dreams.  Talk to Him about them.  Ask for His guidance.  And stop thinking you’re crazy for entertaining the thought.  If God placed that desire in your heart, there is purpose that goes far beyond any imaginings you’ve ventured thus far.

And please, please believe me when I say, your loving Father WANTS to see you living in the realization of that hope. He wants to see you enjoying the reaping of those loving seeds He tenderly sowed so many years ago.

What can you do that will reawaken your joy?  Allow Him to live through you and don’t be surprised if He leaves you speechless…

and tackling greater feats than you ever thought possible.

Till tomorrow, my friends.
