Happy Sunday! Today, I’m going to share the communion meditiation I prepared for my chuch service last week…
1 Corinthians 10:16 “Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?”
When we come to the table and participate in the Lord’s supper, what is first on our minds? Yes, it is in recognizing we are sinners that we understand our need for Christ; our need for a Savior. But when we come to the table, we should follow the example of Jesus Himself who:
“took the bread [and the cup], and when He had given thanks said, ‘Take this and divide it among yourselves.’ ” (Matthew 26:27, Luke 22:19, 1 Corinthians 11:24)
Jesus gave thanks for the agony He was to suffer…for us. And He, always our greatest example and wisest teacher, showed us how to receive…
with a heart of gratitude.
Hebrews 10:22-23 “Let us draw near with a true heart sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”
Romans 8:1 assures us there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We have been washed clean through the acceptance of our Savior. So, as we gather at the table to receive, let’s honor Him with our joy and our gratitude.
Lord, what an honor to receive today and every day the blessing of Your sweet sacrifice and selfless love. Lord, we don’t belittle what You’ve done by coming to You with peaceful and joyful hearts overflowing with gratitude. Rather, we lift You up in the purest of worship, remembering that You came to set us free. Jesus, now and forever, thank you. Amen.

I absolutely love hearing your heart sing! Blessed holidays, and all days, to you!
