For The Greater Good

Do you ever feel like you’re really going out on a limb for God?

What I mean is, does He ever put something on your heart you feel is maybe a lot to ask but you push yourself to follow through anyway?

I tell you, that is sometimes a very uncomfortable place to be. There are so many uncertainties surrounding those moments:

Am I really hearing from God?

Will I look the fool if I do this?

Will I upset the person/persons involved in this decision?

If I can’t follow through, will God be disappointed in me or will something bad happen?

How do I push aside the fear and follow through?

How do I know exactly how to do the thing I think He is asking me to do???

You’re not the only one who struggles in this area. But there are Biblical truths that can help us in these moments…

Yes, you really can hear from God. Rarely will anyone hear an audible voice although that has happened and I know a couple people who have actually experienced this. Believe me when I say these are not weird people – but ones who gratefully received a miracle when they needed it most. For most of us, it’s a gentle and quiet stirring in our spirits. Romans 8 talks a lot about what it looks like to live from the Spirit. God wants you to know His protection, wisdom, guidance and love.

Contrary to what many believe, God is not trying to make a fool out of you. Even though Jesus was made to look the ultimate fool, He doesn’t wish you to suffer the same. It doesn’t mean people will like every choice you’re making in the Spirit and some may turn away. But God lovingly leads and protects us more than we could ever realize. Our reputation is in His capable hands and think about it: what kind of ministry could we possibly have on this earth if we looked like complete idiots to everyone around us? God wants more for us and more for the people we touch. When He speaks, it is for the greater good so you can rest assured that the fruit of the Spirit will be more than worthwhile and definitely favorable. (look up Galatians 5:22-23 – these are “fruits” we all want)

Will God be mad or disappointed in you? No. God is an understanding God – beyond what most people give Him credit for. Again, He is not looking for you to be a robot who does His bidding. He is wanting you to live a life of peace and love and He longs to help you bring those blessings to others. Do not live under the impression that you are constantly disappointing your God. It’s just not true. He loves you. He looks at you with adoring eyes. He simply wants what’s best for you but He is a patient teacher. (1 John 4:8 and Psalm 103:8) You are covered by the righteousness of Jesus and God sees you as a precious child even when you don’t feel that way. (Romans 3:22)

I love 2 Peter 3:9…The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Friends, when God asks you to do something, rarely will He make it something seemingly impossible. It’s usually smaller things that may feel overwhelming at first because we’re not used to them. But, the more we follow through and the more blessings we see, the easier it gets and the greater the impact we have on the world around us.

God is for you. God is for those you love. If we trust Him in this, amazing things can happen.

As always, blessings to you! I will see you tomorrow.

Amen! On several occasions, I have received messages from God and of those that I chose to ignore, I suffered the consequences of not heeding His warning. So, when you hear His voice or receive the “feeling”, never shrug it off. Thank you for reminding me!
